Just somewhere like McDonald's. Can I get one now, or do I have to wait until I'm 14 or so?

  1. The general minimum age is 13 years for children starting work, although children from 11 years of age may perform delivery work including for items such as newspapers and advertising leaflets.

  2. 14 and 9 months is required.

  3. Yeah, you do have to be 14 for most places. You could try a family owned store like a pizza shop, deli or video hire store. Don't go to a chain (like Pizza Hut, Video Ezy etc) because they are more worried about the legal working age.

I would suggest working privately until you are old enough to work at Maccas, if that's really what you want to do.

You can do something like babysitting or dogwalking. Make a flier on your computer and put it in mailboxes around your neighbourhood. I have got a lot of work this way. Dogwalking is great because it keeps you fit as well and is fun if you love animals.

    Hope you find something great.
