This is a joke right?? No 13 y/o in the country sits in a car seat. The law says 6 y/o or 60 pounds. That is what is safe. You are 13 and 90 pounds. You are safe with out a car seat!!

being to big and being placed in a safety seat can accually be worse if you are ever in a car accident, tell her to read the owners manual on the seat

Holy smoke! I'm 44 and 5'8"  Your mom needs to take a Prozac and cut the flippin' apron strings!

  By the time I was 13 I'd already been in one car accident and maybe thirty motorcyle crashes.

Hey MOM! Let go the strings, have a belt and a smoke and relax.

Kids are fairly tough and cars are built a lot safer than they used to be. (We always knew we were supposed to smash our heads into the windshield header like real men and then the law made us wear seat belts so that wouldn't happen anymore..)

Just saw this on TV last night on child safety commercial - any child under 4' 9" research shows needs a booster seat to use adult restraints. Since you are above that height, you don't need the booster. I don't think it's a "law" per se, just that safety research showed children under 4' 9" benefit from a booster seat in a crash.

Tell your Mom I am 47 years old, I used to ride around in a 1957 Chevy in the '60's with NO seat belts. Even when we got a newer '64 Chevy Impala, which did have them, we didn't always use them, especially locally. Just on long trips. Times change, though. :)  But you can challenge her on this, go look up the 4' 9" height safety thing on the Internet, then show her. Good luck!

I am 13 and 5'10", 155lbs. your small. but your height is tall enough to go without a car seat. you are light but i would say you dont need it. say to her that yo uare tall and old enough. as another adult to talk to them but its your mom who decides.

Nice typing. What exactly do you hope to achieve here? Your mom is obviously a safety psycho and the only thing you can do is get as far away as you can from that nut when you get older.
