  1. GET WILD AND CREATIVE!!! go ahead paint your walls any wild color you want! take a net and put it over your ceiling and put your toys in the net so they are just between the ceiling and the net (how cool would that look!) hang some colorful posters on your wall if you cant paint your walls! get a funky shandalier and replace it with your boring old light! take spray paint and totally change your dresser with bright graffitti prints! get a colorful rug! and some cool shades for your window(s)! and take  your floorbored and paint it a bright color too (like meatalic)!

  2. get dolly and girlfriends magazines- (even if you dont read them ) still buy the latest issues and then tear out all the fashion pages ,adds for clothes and shoes and bathers and stuff and also any page that has mainly pics on it not just writing and put them all up

u should get about 20 good pages to use from each magazine

ummm but i think u can only get them in australia but if u dont live there them maybe some other kind of magazine that u have where u live,,hmmmmmm  vouge if u like in America ,,,but the pages arent really coulour full ummm maybe get a4  hot pink (or watevea colour)bits of card and put them in a checker pattern on ur wall ........or if u have some really cool clothes than get ur dad to put nails in ur wall and then hang your coolest clothes of of that ..good luck

  3. Are you are feeling 'peer pressure' to have your room more age appropriate or giving a supporting opinion to your own wish to change your room's appearance?

You can start dealing with this problem in an adult manner. It is good training for later life. A successful problem-solving adult, on seeing a problem, would determine what resources are available to solve that problem and make a plan.

I have purposely kept my suggestions to bare bones and on target. A bigger budget can have more costly changes made.

First, Can the toys be stored elsewhere? Use adult-like behavior of "negotiation" not child-like behavior of whining, crying or throwing  tantrums.

Second, hide the toys. Can the toys on the shelf be placed into the toy box without being broken? This would give you additional space for school supplies and other possessions.

Third, disguise the Toy Box as a bench by using material cover it. [Making lemonade when all you have is lemons.] If you need to soften the seat, buy or make a pillow for the top or use a folded blanket.

Third, add a curtain to hide the shelf, if toys can't be moved. This can be done for any other undesirable area.

Material can be an inexpensive way to add colors, using a skill set that you may have or can learn. Plus, it can be easily changed as your taste change.

Painting is a more permanent change, but white walls go with whatever colors you choose. Also, rented places frequently do not permit painting.

For a "pulled together" room, you do not want the new colors to clash with the colors already in your room - like curtains and bed spread. Co-ordinate or contrast works well.

Measure carefully before cutting the material as not to have much waste.

  4. The way to look more grown up is to have the minimalistic look. Colours such as creme and white and wood look lovely together!

Some bright colours such as pink can run the risk of making you look younger..
