My mom has a female boxer, 5 years old or something around that age. The other dog is also a female boxer,1 year old, baby of the other boxer we have. Then we have two cats, three bunnies,a pygmy goat, two hamsters, two fish, and three kids. I am the oldest and have my mothers permission to get my very own dog, now i am just having trouble picking out a dog that can be around all those animals and be my bf. Plz & Ty~

  1. depends, since you have 2 dogs to deal with and lots of other pets you might want a dog that is going to be easier to take care of and does not have as much energy like a small terrier or something. But if you are into large dogs, golden retrievers are calm and gentle and will probably get along the best with your other pets.

  2. I am the same age and I just got a yorkie and he is the best dog ever he loves to play and he like to cuddle to.The best dog for a teen girl.

  3. 1. A lot of these people don't know what there talking about.  They are telling you to get a beagle when you have 2 cats 3 bunnies a goat and 2 hamsters.  Beagles have one of the highest prey drives and if you got one there's a chance you'd come home only 1 hamster.

    3. Think why do you want a dog?  Do you just want to have one so you have one?  You already have 2 boxers in your house.

    4. This is probablythe worst time to get a dog.  End of the summer when you are going to be going into either high school or eight grade.

So when they turn to there adolescentor adult years you may be leaving for colledge where your family will have to take care of "your" dog.  If you really want a dog you should get one when you can take care of the dog for it's entire life not just half.

    5. If you decide to get a dog I would probaly go to rescue and try to find a dog that can fit in with all of those animals.  For a specific breed i would probably suggest a golden retriever, there very loyal and calm and with my experiences with them they have been fine with other animals.

  4. A Doberman would fit in nicely.  Very intelligent dog that is also gentle and tough enough to play with the rest of the animals...

  5. Just head down to the local animal shelter and take home the one that "picks you". If you were to be looking for a certain breed I would say a lab or golden retriever because they are very good around other animals and people and are very easy to train. Poodles and bichons (mentioned above) are also some of the smartest dogs. Try to avoid dogs like border collies and other sheep herding dogs because they need lots of space and excercise. If they don't get enough of this, they can get behavioral problems.

  6. Try looking in your local shelter or rescue center!

Visit www.petfinder.com to find a shelter near you.

  7. Get a rottie or a great dane if you want a bigger dog. they're sweet and friendly and love other dogs and some cats, and I think they would be fine with the goats. I wouldn't let them around the bunnies or the smaller animals for a little while though. and out of smaller breeds you should get a Beagle or a Pug.. they're really good dogs as well. :]

  8. There are tons of breeds to choose from, I hope you are going to either rescue a dog or buy from a responsible breeder. A toy dog wouldn't be a good idea since they're so small and fragile compared to boxers. I'd say some type of retriever or other sporting dog. There really loyal and get along well with other animals.

These two sites have really great info once you finish the quizzes.

  9. I think you will love a beagle ! ! ! they are the cutest things ever! +++ Its cute small white/black/brown/cute again. ! =D

  10. My aunt also has a boxer and they just got a Shitzu maltese mix.  She is the most adorable thing ever and the boxer and her get along (:

  11. you should get a shitzu

  12. bichon frise<33 there the mostl oveable and only being fourteen ull nedd it at fifteen

  13. go to the shelter and see which dog you like best and which one you get along with the most

  14. You don't want to get any dog that has the reputation of having a strong prey drive and, speaking as the owner of a Shiba Inu myself, I believe this would be a bad choice for you...yes, as another poster said, they're great dogs but typically have some dog aggression as they get older and are a hunting breed from Japan.  So please don't get one of those - bad idea for your situation with two other dogs and several smaller animals just WAITING to be chased!

I suppose you're not wanting to get another Boxer?  There are several quizzes online that can help you find the best breed for you.  Google "Dog breed selector" and take a few.  Then do a lot of research on the breeds that interest you.

But honestly, as it doesn't sound like you have a whole lot of criteria aside from wanting it to be an all around friendly dog, I would start checking out your shelters.  There are PLENTY of great dogs all over the place in shelters.  Plus, you'd be saving a life and believe me, that dog knows it.  I have never seen an adopted dog be as aloof as my purebred-from-a-breeder Shiba Inu.  Another plus, with a shelter dog, you can (most likely) bring each pet to the dog at the shelter and see how he/she interacts.

I would start at some shelters.  I'm sure there is the perfect dog waiting for you in there. And there's always the option of making the "baby" Boxer the one you devote all that love and money and training to, since you already have such a zoo! Good luck!

  15. the dogs don't eat your other animals. so

    I'm 14 and i have a i don't know how to spell it but i have a shitzue

  16. A golden retriever makes an excellent family pet. My family has owned many dogs and the BEST dog (smart, loyal, easily trained, gets along w/everyone)was a female golden we named Sadie.

If you research breeds that re good w/families the golden is usually at the top of the list. Here are some other good choices:

    Pembroke Welsh Corgi

    West Highland White Terier

    Irish Setter

    Schnauzer

    Labrador Retriever

    Poodle

    Bichon Frise

    Good Luck!!!

  17. i think you should stick with what you have because u have a farm form were I'm reading!

unless you want to pay a frochin in animal food  them i would wait till you have much less animals!!!

trust me i have 12 dogs, 6 cats and a 4ferret and we anit gettin any more till they pass away or go to a new home!!!

  18. english bulldog (female)

  19. i think a dog  Like a Norwich Terrier i have one and it is so cute

  20. If I were you, I would ask your Mom what kind of dog SHE wants.

Reality is that in a couple of years, you're going to care much more about hanging out with your friends and BOYS and you'll forget all about the dog you've been begging for - Your Mom will be the one who ends up caring for it, so really, ask her what she wants!

  21. first of all r u sure u want another dog and second if u want a dog u shud get a cocker spaniel either american or english cuz they wud work for u really well and they get bigger then a pomeranien so they wont get squished by ur other pets tell me how it turns out!!!

  22. I would recommend that you choose a special breed or a mutt from your local humane society shelter.  You'll know which one when his liquid, brown eyes lock onto yours and melt your heart.

I promise that you will NEVER find a more loyal, loving, faithful companion than a rescue dog.  It could turn out to be the love of your life!!

Open your eyes, open your heart, open your home to a rescue dog.  Give a broken heart a second chance for love and companionship.

  23. Wow-that's a house full! Why not have  *the other dog" -young boxer female- as your very own dog to love and train properly instead of adding another family member right now?

  24. pomerainion poodles jack terrior

  25. In my life I have had German Shepard's, Wolf hybrids, a Doberman, a Labrador, a Poodle, a Pit Bull & a Queensland Terrier, Out of these dogs the German Shepard's and Labradors where the absolute best people dog. Very very friendly and smart.  We also had other animals and both species loved playing with our rabbit, duck and cat. Plus German Shepard's make great guard dogs. They would die protecting their family, which would be you and your family. Whereas a Labrador will run from danger while barking and growling.

  26. get a beagle, it'd get along with all those animals and it sounds like you have some land for it to run.

    maybe a jack russel terrier.

    a golden retriever a lab.

  27. How about a Pomeranian, I have a friend that has a cat, boxer/pit mix and they get along great. I like watching the Pom play with the kids 2 year and  3 year old, very gentle and will let the kids carry her around.

  28. a dog is a lifetime commitment and youre only 14, which is possibly the worst time to get a new pet. what happens when you go to college? frankly if you cant even decide what type you want, you clearly arent that serious about getting one.

you should wait till youre older and have your own place.

  29. Mini Pincher! Adorable dog

    small and friendly!

  30. Pomeranians!
