  1. Yes you can, but you need Mom or Dad to open up a "custodial account" in your name. Just make sure to find someone who can give you good investment advice as per what stocks to purchase. Since pocket money is your objective and you're 14,  "speculative" purpose and for "short term" horizon should govern your investment strategy. I am very proud of you for such a quick start...   2. You need to be 18yrs and older to open your own acct.  You could open an custodian acct with your parent now. Investing is for the long term and not short term. There are lots of low cost brokerage trader such as Scottrade, TD Waterhouse, Fidelity, and others for you to choose.
