  1. Study in the Police Academy.

  2. Stay out of trouble and strive to have a good reputation. Get good grades. Begin to establish some credit history. It doesn't have to be much, but just enough to indicate some financial responsibility. Try to obtain a college degree. A degree will benefit you greatly. Establish a good work history. If you have a job, be a good employee. Be competent, reliable, responsible, courteous, etc. If you don't have one, get one even if it is only one day per week. Visit the websites of the state police agencies that you are interested in. You will find information about the requirements and qualifications necessary to apply and get hired. Check out http://www.peaceofficerjobs.com for excellent information about becoming a police officer.

  3. Join your local police/sheriff explorer post and stay out of trouble until you turn 21 and are able to join and go into the academy.

  4. Don't be like some of the people that I see on here...."I messed up...I did this....do I still have a chance?  blah...blah...blah"   Lead your life with good morals and decisions. When you are 18 you can go to your local pd and ask if you can go on a ride along.  See if there is a, "youth court" in your area.  One of the local municipalities in my area has a legitimate court overseen by an appointed judge.  They have juvenile: attorneys, bailiff, judges and so on.  The juvenile system here is overflowed with juvenile offenders.  This is a way that they don't get of scott free.  Actual victims and officers testify in this court.  The offenders are ordered to....community service, writing victims apology letters or something similar.  As far as I know youth court is pretty rare....IDK.  Once you graduate...head to college.  Major in something like management or psychology...minor in CJ.  When you are hired by a pd or state police they'll send you to an academy and you'll learn all the specifics on law and so on.  You can do it!  Good luck!

Oh yeah!  I forgot about explorers...you can go on ride alongs sooner if you an explorer.

  5. Don't get into any trouble.  And always keep your mouth shut.
