  1. Start at what is easy.

Start with something that you can do twenty reps with.

Once it gets easy start to move up from there.

  2. weights arent the answer, if you use weights you will strengthen only particular muscles. The best thing to do is exercise, eg chinups, how many can you do, push up, squats, jogging running, hand stands use the wall, then u can push up also like that, did you check at the olympics how pumped some athletes look, u can just use your body weight and do more exercise you will be more hungry, you will eat more and you will notice a huge difference in a month or two just by doing about a hour of work out a day. eg riding the bike running chin ups push ups squats.

plus you will gain from equal muscle building through out the body, not just the biceps. and triceps.

So good luck get to work.

  3. Just start with what you feel is comfortable. Whatever you do, don't listen to the guy who is saying  'don't do weights, do chin ups' etc. You should do these exercises on top of weightlifting to really finish off the muscle groups you have worked. As you start to progress, lift heavier weights, simple!

  4. Try looking up videos from video jug.

You should be lifting weights heavy enough to perform a set of reps. 6-8 reps for building muscles, 10-12 for toning. The last rep should be hard to complete but able to do. Rest and repeat 5 times.

  5. start with small dun bells and do about 50 or something a day on each arm and wen you feel comfortable you can move up a weight but only stick with something that you can just about handle and don't get lazy!

  6. You need to add some weight to your body that you may start  weightlifting. And equally important is this that you  do it under expert guidance.

  7. Hi There,

I feel your pain man.  I was always fairly slim going through high school, but I have discovered that I can gain muscle naturally by consistently lifting weights.  Not every day, but 2 to 3 times a week.  I did try the body for life program and gained about 6-8lbs of muscle.  Its a good all round program, but the diet is very strict.  I also followed and am still following the HIT method (high intensity training)  I have put on 8lbs doing that and am heavier them ever before.  It is so simple. You have to train hard when you are in the gym dont get me wrong, but its way less time in the gym and I didnt really change my diet too much.  See the link below for the book I used.  If you only have dumbbells you will have to get creative, but I think you would be surprised at the result you will achieve in one to 3 months.  I certainly didnt add weight as fast as some guys in the book, but I am happy with what i have achieved and especially happy that It doesnt take up my entire life as far as time goes.  Hope that helps.  feel free to email if you hav questions.

If you cant get the book I can let you know the basics of what I did.  Also you may want to edit your question and ask that only people who have been able to effectively add muscle answer as everyone seems to think they know what they are talking about, but few people have results.  I know I have.  Also 90% of people who go to the gym see zero results so its a good idea to make sure the people you listen to do.
