  1. i dont really like mustangs.  im more into europe style sports cars like bmw, audi or infiniti.  but my fav mustang trim line is the bullet.  its reasonably price in low 30s and gives 15 more hp than the gt mustang giving it 330.  the Shelby gt 500 and gt 500.  first with 500hp and second with 550 b/c supercharged are too expensive but fast.  but who cares how fast if they cant turn well.  if u do get one dont wreck it.  and gas mileage will suck with the bullet by the way.  hope u got the money

  2. 1st you cannot buy until you are 18 since you cannot sign legal contract. Second if you get anything but V6 your insurance payment will be as much as car payment. a convertable will be higher.  A Ford at 16 is going to be hard to afford since they have many problems as I am sure you read.  Who is paying repairs?  Is it worth all your money to pay parents to upkeep car and insurance just to try and look cool or is it better to get a reliable , affordable car that will leave money to take out dates which was more important to me.

  3. shelby GT

  4. Dang jealousy. Well if you can I suggest waiting a couple of years. Not to sound conceited but i'm a great driver and still got in a bad accident my first year of driving. Stuff happens. Actually... all three of my close friends were in accidents at 16 too. I would cost less insurance if you wait too.

If you do get one though, I would get a regular Mustang with a V6 but the pony package. A V8 is too much for a first car, raises your insurance price incredibly, and is a major gas guzzler. A regular mustang is just as nice and I love the pony package. It has lights in the front (to help that nice look) and has a bunch of extra features like a great stereo system.

  5. I'd suggest a 04 v6 manual to get your feet wet, then an 04 Mach 1 would do you justice.

  6. try not to get a v8 because they will cost you in gas and insurance. not unless you have the money to spend then go for the gt or cobra because the extra power is nice.

  7. get a mustang GT

  8. I would look at the mustang with the 5.0 over the 4.6 due to the large availability of performance upgrades.

  9. My parents thankfully bought me a jacked up Bronco instead of the mustang I wanted when I was 16. Honestly, looking back, I probably would have killed myself lol. But last year I sold the Bronco (had it for 5 years) and got an '03 3.8l V6 mustang w/ a 5 spd. I get 19/26 mpg city/hwy with my foot off in it all the time, so not too bad. Newer models get better gas mileage though. They're cool and all, but I'll never have one as my primary vehicle again I don't think. The trunk's opening is too small for ice chests and even big suitcases, and the back seat isn't going to fit full sized adults. Just FYI. And insurance sucks for even the safest drivers, when compared to similar vehicles.

And if you're planning on keeping the car for a long time, the convertible top will eventually malfunction or start leaking, so I'd just go for a coupe. Have fun!

I disagree with those that think they need a lot of repairs. The only major repair (not even really that major) was an exhaust leak, the pipe broke on the passenger side right before the cat and needed to be rewelded). Other than that, regular oil changes, one set of spark plugs, a fuel filter, air filter, and windshield wipers have been the only things replaced/fixed in almost two years. Those are all normal maintenance things, especially at 75K miles.

And the '03 3.8l V6, with a stick, is decent. I've beat a friend of mine off the line and left him with a '97 GT that has a few minor modifications. So not too shabby for a stock V6. It could be a lot worse.

The GT's actually can get better gas mileage than the V6's due to the power to weight ratio.

  10. if you actually get to CHOOSE what car you get... don't get a mustang. i will admit, they are insanely awesome.. but with gas prices so high, you have to consider, do you really need an engine that large with that much horse power? go for a toyota corolla or something, the new ones are nice.

  11. Shelby 500 edition....but, you had better start going to bed on time and doing your chores lol

  12. get the base trim a kid like you doesn't need to be a potential hazard with 300 horses under your foot.

  13. $4,000 1998 Mustang V6

    $6,000 99 to 2001 Mustang V6

    $8,000 V8 1999 to 2000

    $10,000 V6 2003 or a V8 2001
