I play rugby at the same age as you and think that if you reckon your a fast person and agile you need blades, which is basically what soccer players wear, i've gone through about 8 pairs of rugby boots and for me i reckon all the blades ive had are the best because they allow for the most mobility and speed, however if your a forward and would rather do the hard heavy work traction is needed for scrums so studs are the best for that. a good pair will be about AU$150-200. its worth getting the best because from experience they last. also helmets are useless unless your worried about splitting your face open and mouthguards are good if you want teeth and dont like concussions, headguards AU$40-100, mouthguards AU$20-100.

U'17 is the league you most probly would play in,

You  would need:

Rugby boots, (£20 + )

skins,(£15 + )

gum shield ( mouth guard) (about £2)

Rugby shorts (£10 + )

Rugby Socks (about £2)

Possibly A Rugby Ball Too Practise With (£5 +)

You need boots which will cost about £20-£40 for a decent pair. You will need a mouthguard but i'm not sure what they cost. I can't remember how much i got mine for but it was a really expensive shockdoctor one that is also used by boxers.

Obviously you'll need some clothes for training (your club should provide match gear). So get some underlayers, rugby shorts, football/rugby socks, a shirt of some kind and a tracksuit for the cold weather. If you are  slightly effiminate you might want a scrum cap.

Not sure about the cost of all this.

You would play U17's or senior rugby, depending if its for school or a club.

You will need a mouth guard, water bottle, boots with the blunt spikes on the bottom and a poor academic record ;)

Depends where you live, but for me the most important are the cleets and mouth guard, after that just pray ah ah ah
