I am 16 years old. I don't live in the united states. however, i have gone there over summer and gotten a California driver's license.

I have a valid license ID now for california.

i live in Hong Kong.

Is it possible to get an international driver's license over here in Asia?

i am willing to go anywhere in asia to do this. Does anyone know which country provides international driver's licenses to people 16 years of age

I am in desperate need of this license. Please, anyone know of a solution for me?

  1. Even if you got an international driver's license, you would still subject to the laws of the country you are in when it comes to driving.

If the legal age to drive in Hong Kong is 18, and you're 16, then you can't drive.

Also note that there is no such thing as an international driver's license. That's a misnomer/misconception. An international driver's "license" is merely a translation of your actual driver's license into several languages, and is not valid without your original driver's license.

Finally, to obtain an international driving permit (that's the actual name), you would have to consult with people in the country who delivered your driver's license. AAA delivers international driver permits.

Take a look at http://www.aaamidatlantic.com/Travel/AAA... and http://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpapplc.htm... -- note that you must be 18 to apply for it.
