  1. take as much math now as you can as you will need a foundation for all the math required of you in college. There will also be lots of Chemistry and Physics which will requires math as well. There are plenty of vet schools around so do not worry about that. You do not have to apply to a vet school right away as this part of it can be years down the road, just attend a college near home if you want and work hard on general course work. The college counseling office and library will have all the info. You will want to obtain a catalog or two from prospective vet schools just to see what your in for.

    Remember, "do the math"!

  2. First of all a suggestion if you haven't already done it...get a job or volunteer at a local vets office...this will really help you understand what is all involved.

If you have a family vet call and see if they can spare 30 minutes to talk to you about being a vet and going to college.

The only Vet school program I know which is one of the best is at Texas A & M.

    Good Luck!~

  3. I agree with Amber.  Start volunteering at a vet or pet shelter.  The letters of recommendation from them will look great too!!

You can start taking gen ed classes now at a CC.  Keep it simple with Englishes, History and Math.  They will transfer with you and it will help with your application.

    Good luck!!

  4. I agree with the other posters, try to get a volunteer position at a vet's office so you can find out more about becoming a vet.

Sign up for math and science courses in senior year; if those classes are AP, IB or honors, then that shows your dedication and willingness to challenge yourself. Vet school and becoming a vet requires a lot of math and science (which is why I don't think I can become a vet). Keep taking a good college prep schedule.

Apply to colleges that you are interested in. There are colleges that have very good vet programs. You can do an internet search or ask your guidance counselor at high school. The ones that I know are:

Cornell University in Ithaca, New York

    Michigan State University

Washington State University in Pullman, Washington

Ask your guidance counselor about schools with excellent vet programs and ask college representatives about their pre-vet and vet programs at college fairs and visits.

    Good luck with college apps!

  5. Most Vet schools have limited openings each year.  You're going to need to ace your bachelor's degree.  Biochemistry would be a good undergraduate major for veterinary school.

Be active in clubs, etc.  Activities will look good on your application.

There are literally thousands that apply.  Each school might only have 50-60 openings for Vet School.

    start doing your homework now.
