I am living at home with my parents. My mom works but my dad doesnt. I applied through the Health Department but I was wondering how long of a wait untill you find out if you got approved? Also is it true that if you go down to a medicaid office who can get approved a lot sooner? I need some help b/c I need to get to the Dr.

  1. If you're an illegal immigrant you can get it the same day.  If you're and American citizen, you'll have to wade through the bureaucracy for a few days.

  2. Department of Social Services...welfare....you gonna like it.

  3. it shouldnt take more than a few months maximum. when my sister applied for medicid, it took a montha nd a half to have her request approved..

i wish you the best delivery.

  4. I'm sure it varies from state to state.

I would go down to the Medicaid office and apply in person.

Medicaid is the best insurance in the United States.  I wish I had Medicaid.  You do not have to worry about paying anything out of pocket.

    Good question.

  5. If you go to the local welfare office you can get approved immediately for emergency medicaid. You have to ask for it though it will cover you for 60 days until they can verify the information that you provided. Normally though there are services where you can get prenatal care until you have coverage though. Also if you have bills medicaid will cover bills prior to the time that that you were actually covered.

  6. they usually have clinics that help with that and you can have prenatal care while you are waiting for it to come through

  7. go to your local welfare office...should be fairly fast. gl

  8. Go to your local planned parenthood or women's clinic, they can process the paperwork for you and see you immediately.

  9. Medicaid is faster, and it only takes about 1 week and it will go back and cover from up to 3 months ago, so get to the Doctor now and don't worry, you will be covered.  Good Luck

  10. Having worked closely with this system for more years than I'd like to count, I can tell you your approval time depends on many things. The completeness of your application-e.g. all forms completed correctly and financial and medical documentation submitted. The caseload of the worker who took your application-if he or she has a large caseload, it may take a little longer. Usually, 30 days or less. However, they should be able to tell you if it LOOKS like you will be approved, especially with your pregnancy. Call the worker and ask-short of that , your medicaid once approved will cover you back at least to the date of your application and up to 3 months prior if you supply that necessary documentation. So if you need to see a doctor, see a doctor. When you make the appointment, tell them that you have applied and bring your copy of the application with you. When you are approved, make sure you call them with that info as soon as you get it.

    Good luck!

  11. You need to hit-up the babies daddy for some funds..why should the public pay for it?

  12. When  you make bad choices it only gets worse and worse.

  13. Call the public health department and ask about free or low cost clinics.

Medicaid might be a long wait no matter how you apply. You might want to look into food stamps too at county Jobs and Family Services office along with the medicaid/caresource. I have never heard of applying for medicaid through the health department, but if you did it, then it must be possible.

Also try calling 211 for additional food bank help and help with some bills. Sometimes food banks have some baby formulas and diapers there also.

For free or low cost meds, try Montel's

    http://www.pparx.org

    or

    http://www.copays.org

Try to find out how to go to the courthouse and file for child support from the child's father.
