  1. No don't stop taking it, it'll help your baby develop better.

  2. You could but its not helping you a lot. Your baby will be better in development if you continue to take it.

  3. Technically, folic acid is only "needed" until 3 months. But why take that risk?

If your prenatal vitamins are making you sick, try taking Flintstones instead (adults need two). There are even Flintstones gummies now but even while taking two, you'd need to suppliment in folic acid.

Talk to your ob/gyn before making decisions like this. None of us on YA know your health/condition.

  4. Folic acid is very important for the development of a healthy foetus, as it can significantly reduce the risk of neural tube defects (NTDs), such as spina bifida. it is also known as vitamin B9 ,so yes you can it is recommended that you only need to  take folic acid for the first 12 weeks while the babys spine is developing.. hope this helped...

  5. If I'm not mistaken, I do think that folic acid only needs to be taken till about month 3 or 4.  I know my doctor has advised me to stop taking it after my 3 month scan.

    Good Luck

  6. I always thought it was something you took throughout your pregancy.  I know I was on folic acid and my dr gave me a multi-vitamin to use thereafter... might be best to check w/ the dr.

  7. yes if your are taking just a folic acid pill, this is to protect you in the early stages from things like spinal bifida.. but make sure you are taking a pretnatal vitaman, this will have everything you need including some folic acid!

    Hope i helped!
