I am 214lbs and this is my exercising for the wk?

i run 1 mile and walk 2miles and use my total gym mon, wed, and friday then i ride bike 3 miles on tues and thurs am i doing enough and i try to consume about 1700-1800 calories a day

  1. i would say so also try to put a little bit  of sports in there jsut for the fun of it. like sat and sun go swimming or so play some tenis.


  2. how long have you been on this regime?

    try mixing it up- try to jog jonger, and walk less, and try to add a half mile to your bike rides every other week or so. i've noticed that the length of time you do the cardio exercise- not the length of distance- is what gets you the results.

    i was on an overweight program when i was an active duty soldier- i would go to the gym, and work out, but between each set of repetitions, i jumped rope for a minute. this kept my heart rate up. i toned up quickly, and lost the weight i needed to pass the physical fitness standards.

  3. The miles aren't really the issue.  To stay in shape, you have to exercise your cardio-vascular system for at least 20 minutes per day, keeping your heart rate at 20% higher than normal for those 20 minutes.  The Total Gym isn't really a fat burner, it's more of a muscle builder, unless you make a special effort to use it for cardio;  this would mean circuit training with no rest between sets.

    Your calorie intake is good, just make sure you're staying away from processed carbohydrates and transfats, which have a habit of undermining a lot of diets.
