I've not had any pain or anything, but just wondering if this is normal. They haven't come through and since i haven't been to a dentist since i was about 16 and got free dentist with school i have no idea if they are impacted or not. I assume because I've had no pain that they aren't but i don't know. I'm a student so i cant really afford going to a dentist. What do you guys think?

  1. You need to go to the dentist and get an X-ray. Your doc will be able to see what is going on. You may not even have wisdom teeth, maybe you have only one.

None of mine ever showed up.

In case if you have wisdom teeth coming out in the future, don't get them pulled unless they are causing you some trouble.

  2. Go in and get the panoramic x-ray.  It's not terribly expensive, and you'll know whether or not you'll have to worry in the future - who knows, you might not even have any wisdom teeth!  If there are problems (impaction, jaw too small), it's much better to get them removed now than to wait until they break through.  It costs $200-$300 to remove a wisdom tooth:  getting crowns and repairing cracked teeth is much, MUCH more expensive, and you have to deal with messed up teeth for the rest of your life.  I know it costs money, but it's well worth it.

  3. I'm 60 and haven't had my wisdom teeth removed.

It's a wonder I'm not wiser isn't it? Nothing to worry about unless you have problems with them.

  4. it's not too uncommon to not have your wisdom teeth by this age. they can come at any time in ur life. some people have wisdom teeth that will never surface.

  5. Lauren, I'm now 38 and my wisdom teeth have never come through.  Be thankful and anyway you don't need em.  Maybe we're just not wise. x
