I have a relative (she's the only one in the family who drives) who's been promising me lessons since 2002 and I haven't gotten them since. I am tired of waiting on her to teach me and I need to learn how to drive for my job. What are other alternatives? I have taken drivers ed in high school and passed with a B (both written and road) but she doesn't believe that I passed; I even showed her my transcript .

  1. Here's what you should do.

I think your relative is acting strangely about this driving thing so...

Go online and find practice written tests for the DMV in your state, or go to a DMV office and get the driver book and study it. Then, when you're ready, go take the written test and get your permit. After you have your permit you can call a driving school and take driving lessons, and at the end of the course you can take the driving test and get your license.

  2. It's been a looong time since High School. The class on your transcript is somewhat meaningless now.

You're over 18, and can sign for yourself. You do not need a learners permit, unless you really don't know how to drive.

Find a good local driving school, and sign up. They're usually focused on new drivers, high school age, and oftentimes just do whatever your state requires to get a license. so many houre classroom and then so many hours behind the wheel.

The AAA offers a more comprehensive class. Check with them here http://www.aaa.com/scripts/WebObjects.dl...

Most state DMVs also have info on drivers training. Put your state followed by DMV into google. It's always the first or second hit.

    Good luck.

  3. Do you have a learners permit?  If not you'll have to take a written test at your local DMV and get your learners permit.  Maybe whil at the DMV you can ask if your drivers ed from back in high school is still valid, etc for you to get a drivers license.
