  1. my sister is 30 weeks and has gained 34 lbs and her doctor told her thats 14 lbs over what she should have gained

  2. I am 29 weeks and I have gained about 19 lbs. I think your weight gain is probably average. Do not be concerned if your doctor is not concerned. With my first I went from 115 lbs to 150lbs and the doctors weren't concerned at all.

  3. I am 21 weeks and I have gained 16lbs.

I don't know, but every pregnancy is different. With my first pregnancy I gained 55lbs, I weighed 98lbs before I got pregnant.

  4. well that is a little ways above average :) but were you like super skinny to begin with? if so than your fine ;)

  5. that's a bit above average

try watching what you eat a little more.

    good luck

  6. It's probably average but not "recommended". As long as your doc isn't stressing about the weight gain, I wouldn't either. No two women even if they start the same weight is going to gain exactly the same amount. If you're worried about weight gain try taking a walk every night before dinner or going for a swim every once in a while.

  7. No usually you only gain about 25-30 the whole pregnancy. I am 30 weeks and have gained 18lbs so far.

  8. If you started out under weight then they say it's okay to excede the 25-30lbs recommended for your whole pregnancy. But if you were of average weight or over weight. It's a bit much... But don't stress, just eat healthy!!

  9. I know its not average, but since I'm not a doctor I can't say whether or not it's healthy. I guess it depends on your pre-pregnancy weight. I'm 26 weeks, and I've only gained 10lbs. You should probably check with your doctor to see if you're on the weight gain track you should be on. Good luck.

  10. No, it's too much, but don't stress about it.  Just try to cut back on sugar and carbs and walk for exercise.  The more weight you gain, the harder it will be to take it off.

  11. No. Most docs only want you to gain 25-35 lbs during the entire pregnancy.

  12. It's a LITTLE too much according to "averages" but I have gained around the same as you.

I am 27 weeks and have gained about 24lbs.  I started out quite thin, however (120lbs) so it depends on your starting weight too.  My doctor hasnt been concerned at all with my weight gain.  Besides, dont forget that ALL women are different.  Some women gain most of the weight in the beginning, others at the end.. and some gain steadily all the way through.  I gained alot in the beginning but lately it has tapered off.

I have also continued to eat healthy and exercise at least 3 times a week, and I have still gained the weight.  So I know I'm doing everything I can, and this weight gain just must be what's in the cards for me.  As long as you are making an effort to stay in shape and eat well, then that's all you can do.

    Congrats and Good Luck~

  13. Yes that is fine.  I gained 40 lbs in my 1st pregnancy.  And now with my 2nd pregnancy last week at my 30 week appt I have gained 36 total.  They say to gain 25-35 lbs but I hardly meet anyone who stays in that range.  My Dr says I am right on track for my size.  Everyone is different.  Don't listen to these people telling you that you have gained too much weight.

  14. I gained 30 lbs by my 24th week! It's fine! Now my weight gain is stablizing at 33 weeks.

  15. Girl my doc wooda' flip with that number. He made me feel like a whale this past friday! lol I'm 34 weeks and have already gained 24 lbs. and now I'm in a "healthy pregnancy diet". He doesnt want me to gain anymore weight so now im walking atleast 30/day and eating great! No more McDonald's or Wendy's for me...atleast for the next 6 weeks that will be h**l for me : (

Good Luck!! Just walk and try to eat good!

  16. Everyone is different, first of all.  You could be gaining a lot now, and the nothing in the last trimester.  I was about a pound a week average (when I divided how much I gained, etc etc) I gained 38 pounds and gave birth at 37.5 weeks... so... about 1 pound a week.

The OLD way is to gain under 30 which I think is ridicuolous.  Even Jenny McCarthy gained 60 pounds and look how fabulous she is!

As long as you are healthy, no diabetes, then pay no attention to the "normal".  no one is normal, just read some questions on here!

Hang in there momma, you are doing just fine!

  17. I am 27 weeks and I have gained about 25lbs. At my 20 week ultrasound the doctor told me that the baby was already big. You could just have a bigger baby.

  18. Actually that is above average. You should be gaining 25-30 lbs while pregnant on average (more if you started underweight, less if you started overweight). Everyone is different though. I gained 52 lbs while pregnant with my daughter and it took 14 months to lose it but I did :) Congrats on the pregnancy...try to eat healthy and stay active and don't worry too much about the numbers as long as you are doing those 2 things ok?

  19. I think that you gained too much too quickly.  You don't want to have complications when it comes time for labor.  I suggest that you try to eat a little healthier & weed out the cravings for junk food (i know how hard it is, i want pizza everyday, lol).

  20. it's not average but it doean't necessarily mean it is wrong.  Most doctors recommend 25-35 lbs. total however most women go over that number.  with my first I gained 52 lbs total and had lost 70lb by the time my daughter was 4 months old.  with my second I gained 56 lbs and it was also gone by the time my second daughter was 4 months old.  it came off by it's self.  I didn't even try.  each pregnancy is different and yeah you should watch what you eat and your doctor I'm sure is keeping an eye on your weight because preeclampsia and gestational diabetes will cause you to gain extra weight but so long as you are healthy there really isn't much to worry about.
