This is not due to the fact that I`m uncomfortable, but because its almost like my brain is in constant overdrive. I cannot "switch off" at night, I have vived images of giving birth and holding my baby, and then when I do drift off into a light sleep I have the weirdest, unnerving dreams. I also get up about every hour to go to the bathroom.

If anyone has any remedy that they know of that is safe, just to help me relax, and "empty" my thoughts before I go to bed, I will really appreciate it. I am in desperate need of some good, deep REM sleep!

  1. i am very much the same even though i`m only in the 26 week.although it not much help to know your not on your own there you must try and look on the bright side. you have not so long to go now before the little person that is growing inside you and causing you all this worry and  sleepless nights will soon be in your arms and you`ll forget about what you are going through now.try and see this as a way to condition yourself for the sleepless nights to come when the baby wakes up for nightly feeds.also it might help to get into a regular bedtime routine.try to go to bed the same time have a warm milk or drink.a bath or read a bit or listen to soft music.could also try with yoga or get your husband to give you a massarge.go to sleep in a dark well aired room.try not to drink so much so late at night.any worries you might have over things to do or buy for the coming birth.write it all down and prioritiese it.what can you do now?what has to wait?what can you get other people to do for you etc.what can`t be changed or done till later try and forget about it.above all look on the positive and think it will all be worth it in the end.good luck with the birth and your new life as mother.try to keep relaxed.

  2. i am 32 weeks and had the same trouble up until this week.

this week i started a journal and right before i go to sleep, i put all my thoughts into the journal.

    then i follow this routine:

close up the room so it will be as dark as possible, make sure there is some good ventilation in my room, turn on a little lamp, turn off the light. Give myself a foot massage with moisturizer. Turn off the lamp and lay down, close my eyes.

if a thought jumps into my head i say to myself "that's going in the journal tomorrow" and it immediately goes away.

i'm normally asleep in seconds.. and then up every hour to go to the toilet.

my dreams are still weird and bizarre, but i think that's mainly linked to the fact i have to get up to pee every hour!!

  3. Please email me the recipe too!! i constantly dream.. my dreams are like movies in my head and i remember every part of them in the morning when i wake up . my deep sleep doesnt seem to be very long.. my husband thinks i sleep well because within 5 minutes of hitting the pillow I start snoring and he wakes me to turn over.. in that 2 seconds of sleep i am usually driving somehwere or typing some spreadsheet up for work.. or cleaning the house.. sometimes i am even in the tv show that is on tele as i sleep.. when i wake up in the mornings.. same thing..

I have tried hypnosis cds to go to sleep to.. they seem to work a little..my husband doesnt like hearing it as i go to sleep and i can't sleep with ear phones in....

  4. i know how you feel! im 38 weeks and feel the same way! what i do, is lay in bed and watch nick at night until it gets boring lol

  5. I had the same thing for a couple of months before.  I tried going to bed a couple of hours before I actually wanted to sleep, but I usually couldn't get to sleep until 2am regardless of what time I woke up in the morning.  I gave birth a week ago and now all I want to do is sleep (it was a 5:30am bedtime for me this morning)!!  All I can say is if you're at home and not working, sleep in!!  Even if it's until midday!!  It's your body's way of preparing you for staying up all night =)
