refuse to have s*x. I am opting to exercise as a means of making myself dialate, do you all think working on an eliptical machine is too much?? and if i do walk, how long should I walk for?

  1. I am not an expert on this, because I have an incompetent cervix, and I have always been told not to walk because it would make me dialate, but I am the exception to the rule when it comes to cervixes!  LOL.  I will tell you this, though, I know how anxious you are to have that baby, because I have been there.  You don't want to have your baby before 38 weeks.  I know 36 weeks is so close, but my son was born then, and he spent 8 days in the NICU for breathing issues.  It was a long 8 days, and I would have given anything for him to be back in my belly and safe.  I wanted to be miserable again so I didn't have to watch my son go through everything in NICU.  My son never got to be in the room with me, and I could only hold him in NICU.  It sucks.  You never think at 36 weeks your baby will end up there, but it is very possible.  So, just try to hang on for at least two more weeks.  Good luck, you are almost there!

  2. you're only 36 weeks give your baby some time to grow. you're baby is not done growing in there yet so done try to get it out now because baby may have breathing probems being born too early. but your baby won't come out until they arre really ready. s*x and walking really does help but you need to do a lot of walking.

had my son at 36 weeks had to be evaluated by the NICU

my son was fine but he did have jaundice and i was nervous that his little lungs were going to be strong enough

  3. I know walking worked for me.  I went to see houses with my mom who was thinking about moving at the time.  I think we saw 7 houses that day.  The next day I had a pedicure and then the day after voila I went into labour.  I was 39 weeks along.

    Best of luck

  4. Babies come when it's time!

  5. I'm not sure.  THe s*x works because the sperm actually has a chemical reaction with your cervix, and causes the cervix to soften and I'm pretty sure it also triggers a small release of oxytocin (the body's natural labor starter).  So, it's not the aerobic activity that gets labor going, it's the biology.

As far as working out, I suggest talking to your doctor first.  He or she will likely say not to work out beyond your comfort level, but it is advisable to talk to a physician first, especially while pregnant.

But it is also true that the body knows what it is doing, and your baby will come when it's the right time for it to come.  It's hard to be patient at this point, but trust the process.  Instead, concentrate on getting yourself ready for enduring the labor (eat healthfully, rest often, read, etc.)

Your baby will be here before you know it, and then life fast forwards faster than a blink.  Try not to wish the time away.  :-)
