  1. It depends upon your situation. Are you already planning, in accordance with your doctor, to attempt a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean)? Or have you not talked about it with him/her? I assume, at 37 weeks along, you have in fact already talked about this and know that your doctor is okay with attempting VBAC in your situation. Factors that might keep a doctor from letting somebody try VBAC include a vertical incision on the uterus (done in emergency c-sections) which has a higher risk of rupture, or too short a time between pregnancies (resulting in not enough time for proper healing).

When attempting a VBAC, doctors tend to be very conservative and cautious - if anything goes wrong or stalls, they will halt the process and send you to a c-section, because they don't want to risk uterine rupture - and almost any complication, even a minor one, can significantly up your risk for a rupture. For example, if you end up having to be induced, they may not want you to try for a VBAC because induction can lead to harder contractions and it often increases the chance of having a c-section anyways. Or if you have been laboring for too long, they will send you for a  c-section sooner than they might have if you had never had one before.

It can also depend upon the reason for your last c-section, and if it is something that is likely to repeat or not. Though, if it was due to a reason that is likely to happen again, your doctor may not have been okay with trying for a VBAC anyways.

Your baby's estimated weight as of now is no way to tell what your chances of success are, as weight estimates tend to be very inaccurate - they are routinely up to 1 lb or more off in either direction, even when determined by ultrasound.

And finally, the GENERAL success rate for attempted VBAC is around 60%, though it can vary from doctor to doctor depending upon the level of his or her comfort, expertise, and experience.

Congrats on your baby and GOOD LUCK!

  2. vaginal births after c sections are done all the time, so it is possible, but that would depend on a lot of things.  I would think your doctor would have discussed your delivery method by now...

  3. You can have a normal delivery if you want it. Your body was made to birth children never let a doctor convince you otherwise. There are several books you could read about natural child birth and websites too. I love www.birthingnaturally.net

They have great info and a childbirth test to see how you would react during labor. Be prepared and informed and you can have the kind of birth you want.

  4. no one can make yuo get a c section unless its absolutly necessary, if your in labour baby is head down and your going well, then vaginal is possible
