  1. It is common and accepted among adults to be overweight, and the feeling of consciousness about being fat is no longer there. For women it is an easy and accepted excuse that they put on weight during pregnancy and lactation, or in the case of older women undergoing menopause, the weight gain is because of the hormonal changes. Wrong eating habits and lack of exercise are the main cause to

    Men at high risk

In the case of men they are at a risk of cardiovascular disease, throughout their lives. Extra cholesterol consumed in their diet will eventually find their way into important arteries, slowly narrowing them and then develop as a block, this block if in a vital artery, can do great harm. Women are protected from this factor because of their hormones, but after menopause they are at an equal risk level as men.

Secondly overweight predisposes an individual to diabetes mellitus. If one has inherited it also, then the risk is very high, but overweight alone can also be the cause of development of the disease. One thing to remember in the case of diabetics is that blood reaches all parts of the body, every single cell of the body, and if the composition of blood is not normal it will affect every single cell, especially the eyes, kidneys and extremities are most vulnerable.

    Maintaining Hygiene

If physical hygiene is not well maintained in overweight individuals, then perspiration in between the skin folds can give rise to skin problems. Mobility becomes slow because of weight and age, and this lack of exercise in turn adds on to the weight. This becomes a vicious circle. One has to be extremely careful. Even during pregnancy and lactation there is no need to consume extra fat in the food. The growing fetus requires no more than a healthy diet full of fresh fruits, vegetables, salads, sprouts, cereals, pulses, milk and meat, fish, poultry and eggs and of course exercise in the form of walking.

    Is obesity hereditary ?

Overweightedness is not heredity. The main causes are the eating habits and therefore the disease becomes heredity because of common eating habits of one family. The diet should be low in fat, salt, sugar and full of fresh fruits, vegetables, salads and sprouts. Exercise is a must throughout life, whichever kind health permits. Keep slim, eat healthy and live a longer and quality life.

  2. all you have to do is run almost every day . walking is fine to . eat more fruits and vegtables than grase food . it might take awhile but you will lose some pounds and 119 isint bad. good luck my friend.

  3. stop one time food and do lots of excise

  4. The first thing you should do is consult your doctor for advice on a program.

Do you exercise?  Losing weight involves burning more calories than you intake.

What do you consider eating normally?  How many calories do you consume in a day?  If you don't keep track you'd be surprised.

If you want a structured program try Weight Watchers.  I have several co-workers who are doing well on the program.  One of our local radio DJs is on the LA Weight Loss program, he has lost more than 50 lbs.

There are other programs, but many of them make you buy their food and when you go off the program, you haven't really learned how to eat.

  5. Lower calorie intake in half and double the amount of exercise.

Don't go for some fad diet--stick to the basics.

We are all pulling for you, especially your heart Doctor!
