  1. Some funny b******s on here hey mate, you would get a coaching position for sure, i would think.  but be prepared for some good natured **** stirring, personally I'd rather have you poms coming out then the c**p we seem to be letting in at present.

Any way contact the Australian Embassy in London to start with and good luck mate.

PS- you could get on the net and contact the A-LEAGUE clubs in Australia, you never know where it might take you, that's about the only way you would make a living as such, not a lot of money in soccer out here, we are more based to Aussie Rules and Rugby League in that department.

  2. Sound to me like you have quite a nice family.

From my point of view yes... but put it this way, I'm not to judge who goes to Australia or not.

  3. As much as I admire your spirit of adventure, surely Australia House are the best people to ask.

I wondered about your 65 year old child until I read the full text.

    Good luck

  4. How does a man of 43 have a 65 year old child?

  5. how can you have a 65 yrs old kid  and in aus they may let you work in footie

  6. Firstly, I presume that it is you who are 65 ? or is it 43 ? or maybe it's a typo.

Secondly, You need to mix with the culture and code that you want to belong to.

I suggest AFL, but then we are biased on this thread.

You must integrate with like minded people, the same as you would in the UK. Nobody is going to employ a person with a big reputation in theory. sound brutal, well thats the way it goes, i'm afraid.

Employees want to know how you get on with people, and whether you are a rational person, or someone who gets agro.

Apart from the advise, you stand a good chance of getting a gig with all the wall hanging certificates. If you blend in and don't keep telling people how you did it in the UK, you will be unique and much sort after.

Get used to the jarjon on Australian rules,as Aussies like to take the Micky out of poms. You will look forward to the greatest country on the planet, even if we do have a drought.

Cricket is great in Oz, it's played in every suburb, throughout the country, and we all hate Jardine, Botham, etc. but we don't mind Sunil Panasar. Probably because he comes from Lutan. Aussies watch Lutan Airport in a series in Melbourne, so we get the picture of the locals and their cheap flights. (Ha Ha)

Incidently, the Grey/Nick cricket bat originated in Australia. (2 guys)

As for the sports journalism, this is a difficult area to get into, due to the culture, and the fact that sports journos in Australia need to be articulate (Jeff Fenech ha ha), and usually sportspeople themselves. They are respected by the sportspeople that they are interviewing.

Paparazzi is not the way to go, as most readers and viewers like authenticity.

Development officers are plentiful in Australia, so you would need to align yourself with someone who can get you the gig.

I take it, your wife interacts well,? if she is a pom, I'm sure she can hold her place with your family of sports jocks.

Don't be put off by all the satire on Aussie Rules Threads, although I'm sure you have your own brand of humor.

Keep posting on this thread, you never know your luck, someone could give you some leads. bring plenty of references with you, especially if you are planning on coaching minors.

  7. he probably travelled through time and got his son when he was 65 and brought him back

  8. I think if you get arrested in England they will ship you to Australia

  9. if your family agrees with you then theres plenty of jobs for coaches in australia.

  10. Wow! A 43 year old with a 65 year old kid? Thats impressive!
