  1. Most definitely yes. When the bicycle was invented, all the riders were grown people.  They hadn't made small bikes then. They even learned to ride the penny-farthing, a devilishly difficult bike to ride.

  2. why not, i didnt pass my driving test until i was 42, you are never to late to anything you want to do, except having children of course

  3. NO its just like riding a bike. You will be fine.

  4. Your never to old to learn anything. It just takes a little determination and going about it the right way. If you want to learn because you want to get exercise then that is even better. Why? Because you'll be healthier for it and you go purchase a bike that will be fit to you by the local bike shop. To start out, consider a loaner or a rental at a local tourist area, if available. Make sure it is something you can sit up on and fits you. Adjust the seat down so its just low enough for your some of your toes of both feet to touch the ground while your sitting on the seat. Its only temporary till you learn ballance. Make sure you understand how the brakes work. There are two types. One uses a backward pedaling motion to activate the brakes. These are called coaster brakes. The other type have a lever(or two) on the handle bars. These are called caliper or rim brakes. If you have two levers, make sure you know which is the rear brake. You be using it for now until you get comfortable, then use both later. Take the bike to a local fairly large smooth open parking lot with no cars or a park with a paved walkway and not too many people around that might get in your way. Avoid roads with any traffic. If the area has a slight grade it, even better. Straddle the bike and sit on the seat. Get yourself going by pushing with your feet, you know, Flintstone style, until you can pick up your feet and coast along. Do this until you have good feel for your balance and steering. The next time pick you pick your feet up put them on the pedals. You dont need to pedal yet, just coast. When your good with that try pedalling. Just make sure you remember how to use the brakes. Once you can do a few laps, practice starting by putting pedal of your strong leg at three o'clock and begin pedaling to get going. This will probably only take you an hour or two to get it. After that, you be unstoppable.  Good luck!

  5. Of course.  Riding a bicycle is mostly balance and not as difficult as long as you have good balance.

One method I've seen used with younger people is learning on grass hills (not real steep).  Start at the top, while on the bike just let it roll down hill keeping your balance with your feet just off the ground using the brakes to control your speed, then do the same thing just put your feet on the pedals, finally when you feel comfortable pedal.  This lets you get used to balancing on the bicycle with the hill moving you and the grass allows a softer fall if it occurs.

  6. Never too old to learn.

  7. yes of course   and once done  you will never forget...

  8. Course, why not?

  9. Try And Try Again Nothing Is Impossible. Take For Example May Rogers A Friend Of Mine Learned How To Ride A Bike At 79 Years Old

  10. Of course not. You are never too old to learn anything that you want to really do.

I am 56 and have at last just learnt to swim!!! I thought I'd always miss out and was so scared of the water, but I overcame my fear (dont' ask me why) and went to lessons, I'm no great swimmer but I was in the Med the other day and oh what joy to be able to swim and enjoy the water!!

My secret was to visualise every day that I could do it, imagining myself doing it and it obviously helped as I have tried and failed in past years.

Of course you won't be afraid to learn to ride a bike, but it's the embarrassment of learning that stops us adults of later years from doing these things not the thought of failure.

Good luck to you. I can ride a bike and it gives you freedom even if it's just going cycling round the local park!!
