No, go for it, if you're fast maybe the backline, (winger / outside centre) or with quick hands, Scrum Half. I played Openside but speed and fitness got me to places the big boys could only dream of. (5'9" 185).

Don't neglect the weight training, surprise can be useful too, they'll see a little 'un and think it's easy to beat you, then when you drive them off their feet in the tackle, instant respect.

Size is not an issue. But, you would be getting into rugby at a fairly late stage.

I first played when I was 11 yrs old so knew everything about the game when I went to university.

One of the features for which the game is justly proud is that, despite its physicality, rugby union has a place for almost all physiques. The obvious place for smaller people is at half-back, but the NZ All Blacks have had very small players in other positions (Grant Batty was a very diminutive but effective winger for example). Short but solid men find a place in the front row - very tall men commonly are locks and so on.

rugby isn't like american football, where size is everything, in rugby a small quick guy can do very well.

That is pretty small, but you can use it to your advantage. Halfback is a position where you could fit in nicely. While the bigger guys will be getting tired out, you can use your size and speed to outsmart them.
