  1. to get higer jump do running and do practice of high jump and also do practice by touching trees by jump


  2. push off with your feet to get more momentum, dont just let your legs do all the work and practice practice practice

  3. start down low and use your arms to bring you up from that crouched position

  4. Plyometrics.  It is hands down the best way to improve vertical jump and vertical quickness.

  7. Practice yoga. You can lengthen your spine over time practicing yoga, at least for the period of time you are focusing on it. You may not get taller, but you will find yourself more bouyant, and flexible. Something about yoga makes you feel like you can almost fly after a good session of alternating upper body stretches and relaxation.

  9. you can do some calf work outs. get those calves like steel. then u'll be able to jump like a grasshopper and plant those spikes where they should be, in the floor.

  10. Throw your arms up when you jump. You'll instantly get an extra 2 or 4 inches. Also, ask your coach for suggestions or a program. There are all kinds of different training programs to help your vertical. I did one over the summer and I gained an extra 8 inches on my vertical. Don't get frustrated and don't give up when you can't walk because your legs hurt so bad. Good luck!

  11. I'm 5' 3" and I can jump really high. I have worked at it for years, so don't expect to get higher overnight. What I do is practice in basketball, I'm a really good jumper (that's why I'm team captain). They'll do drills with you to get you to run, jump, and shoot faster amd higher. When you're a not on the court, practice jumping. What I used to do when I was really short, is have someone stand next to me, in my doorway while I jumped, and have them mark how high I jumped and put the date next to it. Gradually I got higher and higher everyday from just jmping when I had the time. Good luck! ;-)

  13. IM a short person too but in middle school i was in high jump and won first place nearly all the time. My trick is hanging on to weights and jumping up and down until you feel it burn. keep doing that for a while and every day. Or another thing that works is putting  a backpack on with weight in it and walking around with it all day.

    High Jump Drills

    In all drills stress "Trunk upright, hips forward and head high".

        * 2 × 20m walking - lifting the heel and stretching the ankle quickly. Walk back to recover.

        * 2 × 20m bouncing ankle extension

        * 2 × 20m bounding arm drill

        * 5 × 3 or 5 stride vertical jump drill (ankle extension, free knee drive, arm action)

        * Three stride practice jumps, concentrating on specific body parts (5 to 10 jumps).
