I am 64 yrs old on SSI, do I qualify for a stimulus payment?

I jhave talked to others on SSI and they have received a stimulus payment. Is that true, if yes, how and how do I apply?

  1. Social security is eligible income for a stimulus payment, but SSI is not.  Many people confuse the two programs, so maybe the people you talked to are on ss, not SSI.


  2. Age has nothing to do with it.  You have to file a tax return.  If your only income is SSI, you do not qualify.

  3. SSI (Supplemental Security Income) does not qualify for the stimulus payment.  However, if you actually receive Social Security Retirement or Disability and was paid at least $3,000 in benefits, you can qualify.

    IRS.gov has all the details about the stimulus payment.

    As long as you file by Oct. 15th, you can get your check too.
