  1. Immigrating to Australia is a long, difficult process.  It is base on your JOB SKILLS and what you can contribute to Australia.  It would be wise to visit there extensively first and to study immigration requirements.  If you have enough money to support yourself through college their, you could apply for a student visa to attend university there.  Also, when you are over 18, you can apply for waht is called a working holiday program...where you are allowed to work and travel on Australia for up to one year to get to know the country.  See sites below to get info on immigration to study and on the working holiday program.

  2. Where in the States are you, you can go to a Visa Assement interview, they are free but only in LA & New York, details http://livenaustralia.com/

  3. I am also planning to move to Australia for good as well, but my son lives there, and he, or his future wife will be sponsoring me.  I'm not sure on the details, but at some point you will need a sponsor, and an immigration attorney.  The previous answer was correct - you need work or student visas as well.  It's all worth it.  It's a beautiful place to live.  You're also young and have time on your side.
