Try Centrelink perhaps. They employ casual interpreters.

If you are willing to travel to Iraq or Afghanistan then you could be a translator for the services that are currently in those countries. Not nescessarly US troops. Could be Austrailian , British, and more. I know the pay is very high but so is the danger in some places.
