We are both living in the UK. We plan to go to India on holiday next year and would like to get married whilst there.

  1. as long as it involves a civil ceremony,ie not just a ride on an elephant like a thai temple marriage

I would highly recommend getting all the documents translated and verified into english

  2. Yes of course it will if conducted by proper authorities and you get a properly authorised marriage certificate. Congratulations!

  3. The paper work has to be properly filled out in the respective countries, but the ceremony can be performed anywhere.

  4. Don't forget she'll need a SPOUSE visa to return.

  5. Yes it will be valid in both countries providing it's registered properly. Also, I suggest that you get a lot of marriage photos and friends as witnesses just in case immigration starts asking questions as one of you will most likely live in the other's country and may require an adjustment to their visa.

  6. Not sure about Aus, but here in the UK... yes definitely.  I got married in India, and as long as you also have a court marriage (i.e. get a marriage Cert.), then it is Legal.

  8. Pefectly vaild. Infact the celebrations are going to be cheaper, just like Arun Nair & Liz Hurley case who got married in the Rajasthans palace. But do call ur relatives and friends.

There is no bar on it being legal or not. If u stay together with each other who on earth can ask u whether ur marriage is valid or not.

But just incase u want it to be valid ask ur repective embassies to do the job for you.

  9. I don't see why not. Providing it is done in a proper place by somebody legally able to marry you and you get a marriage certificate.

  10. dont think so. if i was you i would get married in the UK
