I don't remember whether you now need a passport to drive across the border.  But you will DEFINITELY need it to fly across the border.

You dont always need a passort, only if ur flying international i think.

There is no passport control departing the USA, so you need to ask the Canadian authorities if you need a passport to fly from the US to Canada.

However, you are better off getting a passport.  Having a passport eliminates the issue.

YES! to fly in the Western Hemisphere you need a "machine-readable" passport!
