A few years ago I had a very painful cyst on my right ovary. And my doc put me on bc but which I have taken ever since(4yrs) and Now I am ready for a child, I have read all about how and when I should be most fertile. Yet all the websites say I should have been ovulating from July 26 - Aug 2. yet I had no signs of ovulation, however from Saturday and Sunday(aug2-3) i had that pain on my ovary again. It was so bad on Monday I could hardly stand up. (when i woke up on Tuesday it did not hurt at all) On Tuesday I went to the doc and he looked at said I'm probably just ovulating. I did not hurt on Tuesday, but on Wednesday and today I hurt a lil. but I'm supposed to get my period next week, why would i be ovulating so late. Is that normal? will having this pain making me less likely to conceive?

  1. Yes, you could be ovulating and it is normal. You did not mention if you had regular periods all the time. If you don't then you are capable of ovulating up to the 23rd day of your cycle. Ovulating in the time frame you have mentioned is very idle. So if you do have abnormal and irregular periods, you could be ovulating.

Pain does not increase or decrease your chances of conceivig. I hope you did have s*x from Saturday (if not then I guess you missed your chance for this month).

    All the best!!!

  2. The pain is something you should have your doctor really look at but it is possible to ovulate late in your cycle.  If that is the case then your doctor might recommend something to lengthen your Leuthal phase (which is the time between ovulation and your next period) if it happens regularly.

You might want to start BBT charting so that you can pinpoint your ovulation days.

  3. I can't tell you what it is, but I have the same thing. I was on bc because of a cyst 2 years ago, and I got off of it about a year ago. I sometimes don't get my periods at all for a long time now, and have random pain on the same ovary as my surgery. So I'm guessing maybe a cyst. But don't worry about it until you haven't had a period in 3 months. Anyway, just letting you know you aren't alone.

  4. I use an ovulation kit because that's the only way I can tell. I never get the cramping or mucus like woman talk about, I guess it just depends on your body.

  5. The crazy thing is that no one can truly know when a women ovulates. What I would do just to be safe if you really want a baby... Have s*x as often as possible two weeks after your period go off. Sperm can live  5- 7 days in the v****a. So do it often, and lay down 15 minutes after time you are done having s*x. It keep them in there, and allow them to travel to the cervix with no problem. If it hurts try a position where you can control it. I hope this helped a little. One more thing ovulation will not hurt you, it should just feel like mild cramps. If its bad pain thn always call the doc.
