Question:

I am DEPRESSED about my weight, but if I don't like to exercise how can I lose weight?

I am 5'3 & I weigh 155 lbs & I have congestive heart failure, end stage liver disease & kidney failure due to alcoholism(and NO I was not drinking in that picture, I was there to watch my daughter in a karaoke competition, I haven't drank in over a year) A little over a year ago I was rushed to the emergency room for heart, liver & kidney failure, I was told I had six months to live, I was put on dialysis & was in a wheelchair & was put in a nursing home, so I was confined to a bed for 3 months. Now that I am on my own again I feel huge & I want to lose 30 lbs, but I don't like to exercise. So what are my options?

You have gotten some good advice already so I just want to tell you that you must do something.  Congestive Heart Failure is nothing to play with.  Although you don't like to exercise you need to do some because of your health problems.  Exercise is good for your heart.  Try walking or doing something you enjoy.  I have a friend who loves to dance.She does this as her exercise.     p.m.  People  achieve  marvellous  results  with it. Depending on your

    initial  weight,  you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If you don't eat  wheat  then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey cakes, you don't  eat  junk  food,  and  you don't eat biscuits. But your diet is

    still  balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to calculate points or to buy special meals or plans.

It is such a misconception that you "must" exercise to lose weight.  Now, I am not saying that exercise is bad, in fact there are SO many benefits to exercising, one of which is that you are able to eat more calories.  Having said that, weight lose is about one fundamental principle--calories in and calories out.  In order to lose weight you have to burn significantly more than you take in.  A good place to start is your BMR or basal metabolic rate.  Go to google and type in BMR calculator and you can figure out how many calories you will burn if you just laid in bed all day and didn't get up.  Then you need to figure out your exercise level, and factor it together to come up with the daily amount of calories you need to maintain your weight.  If you want to lose 1-2 pounds a week, you need to have a calorie deficit of 3500-7000 calories per week.  Sounds like a lot, doesn't it?  It IS a lot, but it's not impossible.  You have to have a deficit over a very long period of time to see results.  You have to stick with it, and watch everything you eat, l**k, and touch.  It takes dedication, but if you really WANT to lose weight, you can do it, all without stepping foot on a treadmill.  I hope this helps you.  Good luck!

  5. It doesn't matter if you don't like exercise... you have to in order to lose weight.. that's how the human body works. You have to make exercise part of your routine. Start by walking for 40 mins a day. Then jog a little during the walk. Work up to jogging the whole time.

    And eat sensibly.

    Anyway, I think u should push urself to exercise --- at least a walk/cycle. do light exercises (aerobics, walking, light swimming). Dont try to push for the high-impact sports cause u will end up in the hospital again. as time passes, u can do more tiring sports

    Always tell urself that u are doing this for the sake of ur health. Nothing is more important than ur health my dear.

    Also try to cut down on ur intake of high-in-fat food. Eat more fruit and vege. Dont eat red meat. Best is that u become a vegetarian. U can go on the net to search for some really nice recipes for healthy food. I did that once, and it was simply NICE

    Just have more self-discipline and try ur best.

    U can try lipposuction but i think natural is the BEST

  8. weightwatchers is amazing if you want to lose some weight.

    it tells you how much you should be according to your height and how many points a day you should have (fat).

    My brother tried it and he lost 2 stone in 3 weeks.

  9. wow sounds like you havent had the best luck with your health. given this medical history, you should really try and be healthy, dont try any stupid fad diets, and u really should give exercise a go. it works wonders for everything. no point dieting to lose weight if your muscles arent toned, youll just get old, flabby looking skin. exercise keeps you young and healthy.

Seriously, I would avise you to try and find an exercise you like if you want to lose weight.  Your weight gain is from lack of activity, especially the times you have not been able to run around due to ill health.  You have a choice to make - whether you really want to lose weight or not.  If you do, try doing 30 mins of exercise 4 times a week.  that's all. Not much but try skipping and going for a power walk.  Once you get into the routine, try to turn the walking into running and you will be amazed at how quickly you will start to lose the pounds.

    No one else can make you do it but if you start, you will get into the habit and the results will get you through.

  11. I hate exercise myself and tried to find many ways to lose weight without exercising... honestly it's just not possible!!

    the word exercise seems to get people down and they think it's a chore. So I convinced myself I don't need to exercise I need to get ACTIVE!!

    Do you like to go shopping? go to a mall and walk and walk and walk and look at every single shop... do you live near a beach or lake or parks? go there and go for a walk and take in deep breaths and enjoy the fresh air.

    You don't need to run or jog or do anything overboard to start with, thats where people make the mistake, they overdo it and hurts themselves or feel like it's too much work and give up.

    If you have been in a wheelchair you need to take it easy so be careful and don't push yourself too hard to begin with.

    The hardest thing is actually getting up and getting out the door, you will find every excuse under the sun to NOT to go but you need think about how good you will feel after. Find a friend and get them to go with you, or even better your daughter, it's so nice to go for a walk outside and talk in the fresh air.

    Look at what your eating also, cut out all fried, fatty foods... increase your fruit and veg, experiment with herbs and spices and make cooking fun. 100% whole wheat is amazing!! fills you up and just keeps you going so much longer.

    I hope this helps... I know it's not easy i've been on my weight lose plan now for 2 months and I still hate getting up in the morning to go workout but after I do I feel so much better and I have my goal which I'm sticking to, sounds like you've got one too so hang in there it gets easier.
