  1. You are not subject to the local curfew laws if you are visiting the area, nor if you are homeschooling.  In addition, any time you are with a parent or guardian, you are not subject to the curfew laws.  The law is in place to prevent truancy, and if you are not truant there should be no problem.

I do agree with the previous answer, however.  Confirm this information with the local PD to make sure you do not run into any trouble.

  2. Check out the enclosed website.

While the recent rash of States threatening Homeschool children with truancy charges is a problem, there is a way around the whole prob.

www.HomeschoolEducatorID.com deals with homeschool ID cards for both the Student AND Educator. The ID cards are great because they serve a DOUBLE purpose.....

A: prove that the child IS in school

B: show to get Student discounts or Educator discounts

There are places that offer discounts to students and teachers when they show ID (theatres, museums, etc), the Authorities HAVE to leave the child alone (unless they are doing something wrong) when they show their ID to PROVE they attend school and are NOT truant (parents should keep a copy of their child's ID for emergancy purposes).

I have both a Homeschool ID and a State ID for my daughter and we LOVE the benefits.

  3. Call the local p d and get the name of the officer who answers your question.

  4. There are no daytime curfew laws that I know of.

If you're just visiting you tell them that.  Compulsory education only applies to RESIDENTS.

  5. Check out this website:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

it has a lot of homeschool information
