I am Jewish, I need to understand this.......?

Question

I have been told by the Christians that we are rejecting God and we have to be sent to be tortured eternally in the Christian h**l which we don't believe in.

The point is, even if we don't believe in any h**l, I just need to understand why do they think we have to be tortured forever, we are not rejecting God, we are simply rejecting Christianity.

Btw, even if we don't believe in h**l, I find it offensive that someone would think we are unworthy and need to be endlessly tortured.

If you read those sites about Jewish h**l, they are describing a different concept all together.  Both say, it's time limited (to a month or 11 months depending on the belief held), also that it's only a -possibility- & we don't know what happens.  They use the word h**l to make it easier for Christians to understand & that just muddles things.  The views described are held by only some Jewish folks & even then there are  many more variations that they begin to write about.  Also this concept applies to all people, jewish or not, based on the morality of their behavior, NOT on being jewish or not.  Actually for a Jew it's a lot tougher because we're responsible for all the commandments, & Jews are responsible for 7, a subset of the 10 commandments.

The Christians who come up with this obviously aren't the sum total of Christianity.  Think of it this way, these people think they themselves are unworthy unless they believe this stuff & live their lives scared that they will go to h**l.  They're just extending the courtesy to you too.  They haven't figured out yet that even in Christianity, God isn't Jezus by himself & somewhere in the god-head concept is the Jewish God.  These folks probably also think evolution is a myth & the bible is has no myth factor in it, so backwards works for them.  (Even Talmud describes some of the stuff as allegory.)

Well Thank goodness there is some good Christians out there. Respectful loving Christians this is not for you...The rest of you have a strange way of getting people to love G-d, your abuse and degrading is so encouraging. So is your lack of respect for other humans. This morning I was in need of 50cents to get my train ride to work. I asked politely if I could exchange brand new still sealed sunglasses for 50 cents and was attacked because I was holding a Kippah. Reading your posts reminds me of that.If we don't except your Jesus and worship a false god and and bow down to his idol the cross, you want to throw us infront of the train. I would die under the wheels of a train if it was a choice between worshipping false gods and idols or being thrown on the tracks.

Not all Christians believe that. Catholic Christianity teaches, “Those also can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience. You weren't told anything by "the Christians." You were told something by "some Christians." There is a difference. If you read official published material on the subject from the largest Christian denominations you will find a very different message. Keep this in mind - it would take you over 2000 years to shake the hand of every Christian on earth. If you want to know what "the Christians" believe, you have to look at their official literature on the subject, and do not rely on what some anonymous internet posters have to say on the subject. And for God's sake, don't judge the beliefs of 2 billion people by the 20 Christians you have met personally. That is an unrepresentative sample on steroids.

Ok, I see you have ask us Christians this question but are getting many other answers, so as a Child of God, Christian if you so wish, I will try to answer as best I can : I have NEVER told anyone they are going to h**l, I say it is a possibility !! And as for the way I speak to the Jewish people ? I am very careful as to what I say, NOT being sarcastic just truthful, I KNOW God does NOT look kindly upon those who do speak unkndly or put down His people ! If that is not the way you see it, then so be it ! Of course you do not believe in h**l, it is NOT in the OT, there is mention only of paradise... before the cross there was no h**l per se'..... Of course some have not come to know Jesus as the Messiah, no surprise to me ! and I do NOT push the issue with those of the  Jewish faith !  1. not my job  2. Those who worship Books or graven images and Idols have Gods that do demand sacrifice and would burn a child. Those are the same people who are very close to putting people in ovens themselves.
