I am Out Of School -- How Do I Choose a Career???

Question

I have left school and I am completely clueless about what to do, who to be. I'm not in college because I have never known what I want a career in.. I don't know what I'm good at, what my skills/talents are etc, and I have little confidence in my ability. I'm really confused, worried and.. scared. All my friends know what they want to be, but I have no idea. I can't find any advice for my problem online.

Suggest you visit your local Connexions Office. you will find their address in the phone book. They can offer you advice on what to do next. Most importantly don't worry a lot of people don't know what to do and are much older than you.

provide more information about ur intrests and wat u like to do and stuff like that.

it'll b more helpful because we cant just choose a job for u not knowing u.

so think about wat u like to do and go from there.

I didn't have a clue either thats why I'm a secretary.  For the love of God don't become one!!!!!

at least start by going to a community college to get your basic classes

Maybe there you will have a revlation!!!

and then you can trasnfer to a big college or university

to start your future!!!!!

I suggest oyu move out of your house and work full time.  Then when you are scrubbing toilets you will quickly find a career.  Im seriou sabout this.  there is nothing like a bunch of shtty jobs that makes you seriously consider an education.

Try speaking to careers professionals such as Learn Direct, who can tell you about a multitude of careers & jobs, how to apply and what skills you need.  Also try your local careers service.

Take a personality test, there are phony ones online, but if you want to be serious go to a psychologist and they give one for I think $75. But here's a link to one of the online ones. good luck

If you have no idea what you want to do for the rest of your life then the best thing to do is go back to school and try to find something that you like and would not mind doing for the rest of your life. Having a job that you are not happy with is the worst thing you could do.

look online for "career assessment tests" - based on the answers - it will give you some suggestions of type of careers you might be suited for - or check to see if there is a local job placement agency near you that might be associated with the local unemployment office - they might have similar tests or could guide you to materials to help you figure out what might interest you and what kind of training would be required - also check library
