The reason I ask is that I like simple neutral colors and fall is very vibrant. wedding decorations are seasonal and I want to have things that supports the occasion. Anyhow if you think about it fall does not kick in after a few weeks after labor day anyway but it still is in September and I am in New York ! Please help????

  1. Many people have fall themes throughout the month of September. Do what you want and don't let the seasons (or anyone else) dictate you.

  2. My wedding is Sunday August 31st. We planned on everything around the summer theme.

  3. By all accounts it's still summer, fall would technically be September 23rd.

BUT as far as vendors go, it might be considered fall. We are getting married on Set 26th and the florist and dress maker said I just sneak in for "fall".

    But these days, anything goes.

The best advice I got was go by the availability of flowers. It was a big help.

  4. yes it is

  5. when you talk about a "fall" wedding, you are unfortunately at the mercy of the weather. if the leaves have started changing colors in late August, then by labor day, it will be fall. Sometimes, summer can last well into September. Your best bet would be to have classic colors that can be done in any season. Shy away from oranges, browns, pastels, or reds. These colors define what season you will be married in. Try true hue colors like black, silver, gold, green, pink, purple, etc. These colors can be linked to a season, but are not defined by the season. Does that make sense?

If you want to be on the safe side, go ahead and plan a fall wedding. Chances are, you will have early fall weather and a few leaves will have changed color by then.

  6. it could be if you wanted it to be. i've been to weddings on labor day weekend before and they were still 'summer' colors.

technically fall doesn't start until september 20th, so labor day weekend is still summer, but i think you could do a fall theme if you wanted to.

  7. Actually Labor Day is usually considered the last weekend of Summer, technically fall does not start until late September. I think you would be fine going with any colors you choose. I still consider Labor Day weekend summer. I am in Ohio so our climates are rather similar and I think you could do summer colors if you would like.

Your wedding colors don't have to be chosen by the season. I am getting married this Labor Day weekend 8/30 and I chose black and white with red accents. Those colors have no season, know what I mean?

If you want simple neutral colors go with them. Neutral colors work any time of year. Besides it doesn't really feel like fall until late September , early October. At least around here in Ohio and I would think the same for NY.

We still wear shorts and tanks in September and you can't do that in fall weather.

Go with what you like no matter the season!

  8. Do what you want, here the kids go back to school before Labor Day, for the fall semester, hence it is indeed fall. The nurseries are loaded with fall flowers, the stores are still selling fall clothes, it can be late summer or early fall, as you wish. I would think that sunflowers, and gold colors, the color of late summer here, would be grand. The wheat is beige, the corn is yellow, the cantaloupe are beige outside and melon within, the peaches are yellow, the watermelon are either light or dark green outside, and pink or red inside.

I would if it were me, since the seasons  in New York City, unless you have a view of Central Park, are two: hot and cold. Other places in the state might have more. Your fall comes lots earlier than ours here. I would go with fall colors if I wanted to. If you want to tone it down, and not have the burgundy of later fall, stick with sunflower yellow, dark red[think ruby], brown, burnt orange, even a beige.

  9. It's still considered a fall wedding

  10. Well, technically, fall does not start until September 22nd. So, it is summer.

However, you could do sage green and brown, which are neutral, simple colors, that would support either summer or fall.

And, realistically, you could do whatever colors you want.

  11. It depends on the weather in your area, and whether or not you want a theme wedding. Here in northern CA, September is an Indian summer and is the hottest time of the year.

You don't have to have a seasonal theme to your wedding. You can do whatever you want, really. If you want simple neutral colors then do it that way.
