  1. If you are paying rent or utility bills you are developing credit. If you can demonstrate steady employment and a record of prompt bill payment you should qualify for a gasoline card (Mobil, Shell, Exxon etc) or a department store card (JC Penny, Macys etc). Once you get a card use it to buy the things you would otherwise pay for by cash or check like gasoline or clothing, and pay the entire balance each time. You don't need to take on debt simply to develop credit.

Once you've used a credit card apply for a bank card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover). Again, use it for necessary items and pay the balance each time.

While you're establishing a credit history get on a budget so you know how much income you have for clothing and large items like a car and home. Begin saving some of your income for these items so that when you go to purchase a car or home you have a down payment to go along with a good credit history.

You can download a free budget spreadsheet from: http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/debt/de... or use an on-line tool at: http://www.kiplinger.com/tools/budget/

Good credit takes time to establish and will provide financial opportunities for your future, but credit should only be used with the bounds of your income.

    God bless!

  2. we were all in this situation once. I found my first student card at the following site. They have a great selection of student cards to chose from. It'll help getting approved if you have income and you specify that in the application. Good luck!

  3. You can apply for a student credit card such as Capital One Student Platinum or credit card for people with no credit history. http://bestcreditcardratings.com/student...

  4. http://www.creditcards.com/

    I personally like:

Bank of America Accelrated Rewards American Express Card

-Earn rewards faster with 1.25 points for every net retail purchase dollar

-No Annual Fee and the flexibility to pay over time

-Access to special Cardmember offers from participating American Express merchants to save on shopping, dining, travel, hotels, and much more.

Capital One credit cards are pretty good, they let you customize your own credit card. (By selecting you perferred rate, and reward options, you even have a choice of adding you very own photo on the front of the card.)

  5. i agree... better try Bank of America... you may use my sources for more information...
