I am a 27 year old male living in Los Angeles California wanting to be a dental hygienist.

Question

I noticed that mostly females are dental hygienist and I am worried that if I go through all the schooling it will be hard to find a job that would hire a guy. Do dentist hire male hygienist or do they prefer to hire females? Can I please have all the experienced male and female dental hygienist help me by answering this question for my future?

Well, it's just a known fact that gender roles exist.  It would be discriminating if they won't hire you just because you're a guy.  I'd say, go for it!

Oh, and my last dental hygienist was a dude.
