I already have the name and address of a soldier and the names of several of his buddies who are stationed in Iraq. At first I was going to do it just from my class but now I would like to get the whole school involved. I am looking for suggestions or advice from people who have done something similar at their school. I would also like to know how to get local sponsors involved.

  1. Start with your class, and don't be afraid to tell of the positives that the soldier's, and your kids receive. If you are enthusiastic about what you are doing, then it will catch on with others in your school.

It is better to lead, than to force feed.

  2. I'm not sure about any organization you can be involved with, but the best way to gain sponsorship and get the school involved is to first talk to the head administrators at the school and ask for their help. Once you've got the school on board it should be no problem for you to write to and ask for sponsorship throughout the community, places such as walmart and target usually help out with community projects, as well as local companies.
