I already have a big moose and northwoods bulletin board set. I have very little money to invest this year but was wanting a read aloud book for the beginning of the year and some more decoration and opening of school activites.

  1. How about some paper chains around the classroom in autumn colors with it being a woodsy theme and Fall. You could also try doing a class craft project and hanging that up around the classroom. How about a felt picture frame with little trees and small leaves around the frame w/ a popsickle stick backing? It would certainly be inexpensive as felt is only 0.15 for a 8 1/2 x 11 piece. Also, you can even use those foam stickers as they're also relatively inexpensive!

Another great idea would be to make some BIG Trees for the classrom and put leaves on the tree with different colors like brown, yellow, orange, etc.

  2. How about getting some cheap canvases from a cheapy bargain store, and getting each child (or groups of children)  to interpret the theme with paint or materials from home on the canvas? Then they can be placed around the room. Maybe the kids could also make posters in groups (or as a class) of things they are learning which could be put up around the class.
