  1. How to lose weight in two simple steps:

    Eat less.

    Exercise more.

    Swimming three hours a week is great start to the second step, but if you follow every workout with a double cheeseburger and hot fudge sundae you won't get anywhere!

    So how long it will take to SEE results depends on how healthy your diet is.  However, I can assure you that will start to FEEL results almost immediately.  Whether or not it registers on the scale, you'll feel more in shape after only one good workout, which is a good motivation to keep going.

    Tips on swimming:

    *Don't wast too much time standing around in between laps--that doesn't count!

    *Swim fast enough to get your heart rate elevated, but not too high that you can't keep it up for an hour.

    *Swim technique is important--get some coaching or ask a lifeguard to give you some tips.

    No fast food, no pop/soda, smaller portions, and a balanced diet, plus 3 hours of swimming:  you should be able to lose a kg every couple weeks.

  2. it all depends on the intensity of your workout plus a good diet program. if you keep up with this regimen, you will notice some changes in 6 to 8 months time.
