  1. passpor and visa,here's some introdution about the visa:

    Tourist/Family Visit (L) Visa

    L Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China temporarily for tourism, sightseeing, visits with friends or relatives, medical treatment or other private purposes. China tourist visa is valid for 6 months with single-entry, or 6 months with double-entry, or 6 months/12 months with multiple-entry.

    Documents to be included with application:

    Valid Passport

    Your valid & actual passport. The passport must have at least six (6) months validity left before expiration and at least one blank page left in it.

    An applicant born in China who applies for a Chinese visa with a new foreign passport is required to submit his /her Chinese passport or last foreign passport with a Chinese visa.

    American born children of Chinese descent must provide a copy of their birth certificate and a copy of one parent's passport and green card when applying for the first time.

    *1. Processing time means the time it takes for the Chinese Consulate to process your visa. Time to ship your application to and from CCC is extra.

    *2. If you are submitting multiple applications, you need to pay only one FedEx Fee if all passports are returned to the same address. For ten or more passports, the FedEx fee is $35.

    *3. Applications for rush service must be received by 10:00AM. You must therefore use the morning delivery services of FedEx, UPS or DHL only.

    *4. Applications for regular and express services must be received by 12:30PM to be processed on the same day it was received. Applications received after 12:30PM will be processed the next business day.

    *5.To apply for a Multiple Entry (L) Visa, the applicant shall meet the following requirements:

    (1) The applicant is the husband/wife, or son/daughter, or parent of a Chinese citizen residing in Mainland China. Please submit proof of relationship, e.g. the original and the photocopy of a marriage certificate, a notary certificate of kinship etc. or,

    *6. If the visa application form is not filled out completely, correctly and legibly, this can cause a delay in processing or the refusal of the requested visa.

    Additional information

    Usually, the validity of a single Entry is 3 months and the validity of a double entry visa is 6 months from the date of issuance.   Unless specified on the application form and approved by the consular officer, the duration of stay is 30 days.

    Any person suffering from mental disorder, leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, contagious tuberculosis or other such infectious diseases shall not be permitted to enter China.

    The Validity, Duration of Stay, and Number of Entries of the visa is issued at the discretion of the Consular Officers, whose decisions are based on the laws and regulations of China. The Consular Officers have the authority to refuse any visa applications inconsistent with Chinese laws and regulations, or revoke issued visas

Are you a US resident or citizen?  If you are a citizen then you'll need a passport and a Visa.  First, obtain your passport from the US passport agency:  http://travel.state.gov/passport/passpor...  Then you'll need to contact the nearest Consulate General office for the People's Republic of China to obtain your visa.  A simple google search should tell you the closest one.  There are also agencies that specialize in obtaining visas for a fee.

    If you are a resident of the US but a citizen of another country you should contact the nearest embassy for the country of your citizenship so that they can advise you what documents will be necessary.
