  1. Tropicales is answering for a Canadian not a Brit !

With Mexico, a British citizen can stay 180 days as a  tourist without a visa.

With Cuba, a British citizen needs a tourist card. In Canada these are issued by the airlines. In the UK, you need to ask you travel agent if they will provide. If not, you will probably have to contact the Cuban consulate in London. Airlines will not normally allow you to travel without a tourist card.

If you are planning to travel from Mexico to Cuba, you should be able to get your tourist card in Mexico, at the airport.

  2. omg ignore that person

i went to cuba last year and we had to apply for a visa months in advance and then when it didnt arrive we had to go to the cuban embassy in london

u have to declare how long you are going for and wheere you are staying

it is vital to do as they check it at the aorport and ten again at cuba

  3. You need a passport to enter.

When you travel to Cuba and Mexico, you will need a carta turista (tourist card) which is already provided for you through your travel agent when you receive your ticket or when you board the plane (the crew will hand them out to each passenger).

*edit: to clairfy misconceptions...a visa is NOT a passport...it's a tourist card that is required to be filled out to inform Cuban officials where you will be staying, where you're coming from and how long you'll be in Cuba (or Mexico)...it's in two parts and the first half is stamped and taken upon arrival and the second half is kept by you when you leave Cuba. And you cannot lose it.

Here's a link that shows you exactly what a tourist card looks like...and here's a quote from the link:

"You can order your visa through the Cuban Embassy or Consulate in your country and some travel agencies and flight companies."

It doesn't require months to get...what if you wish to travel last minute?? I think the other person is mixing something else up.
