Is it wise to work independently? Can you earn more commission if you are independent?

  1. The California Insurance Code allows licensed Salespeople to work independantly and this allows you to retain 100% of the Commissions.

Is this wise? You have no secretary or other support staff unless you pay from your 100% earned commission. In this case you might be at a cost indifference point but by association with a large company, you may get referrals, business support materials and company credibility.

I would try to attach with a large Mutual Insurance Company like Northwestern Mutual, Massachusetts Mutual or Connecticut Mutual. A mutual company is technically owned by the policyholders and is not operated for the benefit of shareholders.

         Good Luck.
