I am a Canadian planning on a drive down to Tijuana?

I was wondering if the Mexican border patrol stops you and asks you questions? If so, is a Canadian passport accepted?

And when I drive back to the USA to get home, will the American border patrols accept a Canadian passport like they do when you cross the US-Canada border?

  1. No questions are asked by the Mexican authorities if you walk over. Which I suggest. You don't want to lose your car in Tijuana (Park your car at the border and walk, Take a cab it's 5 bucks). The whole city is like a the Red light district. Bring like $40 bucks. The Club I went to was $15 to drink all-night.

Separate your money (Like put 5 bucks in your sock just in case you get robbed or pick-pocketed). Careful when you cross over if your drinking because the US border agents will detain you. My cousin got put in detox for "public drunkenness".

  2. to get to mexico you only need your passport no matter where you are from. and i think you need a visa to get through the US. and please dont generalize from what you see in tijuana. i live in mexico and tijuana is pergaphs the ugliest state in the whole country

  3. I think people are hardly ever stopped crossing into Mexico, going back however, be prepared to wait in a line for 2+ hours since they check every single car that is coming into the U.S. They'll ask to see your passport and probably ask you some questions such as where you're from, what your business was in TJ (Tijuana).

I'm sure using your Canadian passport won't be a problem.

    A couple of tips though:

~Do not keep your money in your wallet and in your back pant pocket.

~ALWAYS try to get a lower price on souvenirs. Just pretend you're not that into the item anymore and as you start to walk away they will lower the price. (Vendors prey on tourists. I'm Mexican but I don't look it so often I hear the vendors chatting about me...)

~Be warey of the children selling Chiclets or other things, once you buy from one many will follow. Sometimes their "parents" will teach them how to steal

  4. A passport is a passport, so I would guess that it would be accepted at both borders coming and going.

Border patrol on either side can stop and ask you questions, whether they have reason to stop you or whether it is random.  I used to get stopped all the time because I drove a c**p car, and I am Mexican (though I am a US citizen and grew up in Northern MN.  One would think the accent and MN license plates would give it away, but whatever.)

    Have a safe trip!

  5. No, why don't you just grab a plane?

  6. i guess a passport is a passport  n will be accepted..i live in southern california and make many trips to Tijuana..the line to come back to the US sucks..going into Mexico you wont get asked questions..coming back problably..yea since im hispanic they asked more questions ..goodluck n job you enjoy your trip
