  1. yes

  2. You do not need passports to travel to Mexico by LAND until after summer 2008.  See website below and read top half of page carefully for CURRENT info.  After that ,everyone, including infants will need passports to trvel in and out of Mexico by any means of transport. amd, Yes, Mexico requires that if BOTH parents are not with the child, that you must have a signed, notarized letter of permission form the other parent.

  3. Although the Government of Canada recommends that Canadians traveling to any destination outside of Canada carry a valid passport, it is not mandatory for travel to the United States or Mexico.

To date, there is no policy change requiring Canadians to travel with their passports to these destinations. However, you must have sufficient identification to satisfy border officials of your identity and citizenship.

  4. It depends on when you are going to be doing your traveling.  If the child is yours, then you'll need the other parent's permission to travel in and out of Mexico.

The third link will provide you with all the information in regards to children traveling with you.

There is great confusion over this passport issue and when will it become necessary to have a passport.  The Leahy-Stevens Amendment (first link) is also in the third link (along with something the President has signed into law).

If you look at the first link I have provided, it will show where Congress in now considering having the passport deadline pushed to June 2009.

The fifth link is the official government website for when passports will become law.  Of course the Leahy-Stevens Amendment contradicts that, however; it's always best to go with the official government website.

The third link shows the requirements for having a baby travel in and out of Mexico (this could be for Canada as well, even though I'm not sure).

The last link is strictly for American citizents.  I just put that in there for extra info (just in case you need to pass this on to any American citizens you know).

Just look at the links I have provided and you'll have all the info you need.
