  1. Usually not.  The only reason I can think of to renounce citizenship would be for legal reason, like for the draft (we no longer have ) or to keep from being deported

    renouncing to a citizenship,must be well thought for it is not a simple task, and to get it back? one must have a very good reason,do you speak french? if so, go to this page,look for this article:

  3. Why would you renounce it?

    I hold both US (by birth it is where my family is from and where I was born) and I also hold british citizenship.

    The only time I would be required to renounce my US citizenship is if I wanted to join the british military.

    But if you are french by birth (1st citizenship) I imagine you could get it back but it would be jumping through a lot of hoops.

    Although I do understand the urge to cut ties with being french
