I am a Phillies fan...but I do not like Charlie Manuel at all....any one agree?

Question

why do Phillies fans give him so much credit? He waste our pitchers like crazy - using them for 1 inning, and then when we actually have a chance to win the game he doesn't make the right decision.

I agree with you.  Manuel is a joke.  The Phillies are good because of Utley, Rollins, Howard, Pat "The Bat", not because of Charlie and his "off the wall" management of the team.  

Manuel is one of those "Good Ole' Boys" who was probably promised a job through the "baseball network".  

If the Phillies ever expect to get passed the division, and I hope they do, they really need to find a "real" manager who know something about baseball.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree.  I think Charlie is a good manager, not the best, but pretty good. He uses pitchers in different situations.  He may only need them for one inning. I'd rather use a pitcher in a certain situation for one inning than use him for three innings and then he can't pitch for several days later.  He makes smart choices of pinch hitters and smart choices for when to take pitchers out.  I agree that he does keep pitchers in sometimes to long but I think he's getting better at not doing that b/c he took Brett Myers out the other night before anything bad could happen.  He made two great decisions in sending Brett Myers down to the minors and then sending Adam Eaton down also. He may make some dumb decisions sometimes but so do other managers. Overall, I think he's decent, like I said; he's not phenominal, but there are much worse managers.

as a braves fan, i think he is over rated, but then again i dont really like the Phils that much anyway, but i do respect what theyve been able to do putting together a competitive team, i like certain players--but i do like them a lot better than the mets i hope shea stadium blows up.....soon

Charlie is a very good manager. Pitching is not really is strong point as i believe rich dubee maybe making the calls on the pitching decisions behiond the scenes. But Charlie relaxes the players and is a hitting genius and all the players respect him.
