  1. I have my Masters in Social Work and want really badly to go into teaching.  I have been a Stay at Home Mom for the last 17 years and am thinking about going back to work.  I tried the Subst. but I didn't find it fulfilling at all - it was babysitting to me.  I want to connect to the kids, open their minds, pour information in and watch them bloom!  Sorry a little carried away.  With Subst. you don't get that full teaching experience. The best way I was able to practice teaching is that I ran an Islamic Sunday School planning the curriculum and advising other volunteers.  I was also a Girl Scout Leader - lots of planning and carrying through on your plans with all of the curves and hills of the children's excitement and drama.

My problem is I really don't want to go back to school. I will go and talk to someone at our local university and see how many years it will take to be certified.   Guest4349, had a good point about thinking hard about quitting and benefits.
