To apply for a visa all you have to do is contact your nearest embassy and they will have all of the requirements.  They will be able to answer you questions better then anyone on here can.  And you are right the information on the web is  very vague.  If you contact to embassy they are trained in answering your questions and will be able to help you.

    where do you want to have a working visa ? in the UK? or elsewhere?

    if you are an UKcitizen? you do not need a working visa for the UK...........

    elsewhere? you need to precise where?
